CHRISTUS Louisiana Athletic Club – Bossier

*Level 1 - Beginner /Level 2 - Intermediate /Level 3 – Advanced

DESCRIPTION OF AEROBIC CLASSES

Pure Strength: This class is like a circuit class using weights, body bars, and medicine balls to build your strength at your own levels. It has abdominal work at the end. All levels  

Pilates/Barre: This class mixes strength training and Barre Pilates, utilizing the bench, with hand-held weights, body bars, tubing, bender balls, and gliders. The last part of class will have abdominal work. All levels 

20-20-20: This is a 60 minute class - first 20 minutes is spin, next 20 minutes is step, and then 20 minutes of weights and abdominal work. All Levels 

Bootcamp Bodyblast: A high energy, low or high impact class using the step and jump rope, focus targets for kicks and punches, and the stability ball while performing aerobic and anaerobic track and boot camp drills. There is body sculpting towards the end of the class. Levels 2 & 3 

Cardio Bodyblast: Considered to be one of the most efficient types of workouts, combines cardiovascular moves along with strength training using hand-held weights, exer-tubes, body bars, bender balls, and gliders. This class ends with abdominal core work. All levels 

Bootcamp: Experience an interval workout, using weights, bosu, body-bars, etc . This class will have some drills, squats, and kickboxing moves. Levels 2 & 3 

Tabata: Interval workout with short intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery period. Levels 2 & 3 

Spin: Forty-five minutes of indoor cycling based on outdoor riding. You will ride to inspirational music over a varied terrain, controlling the intensity of your workout with a resistance knob and pedal speed. Spinning will increase your cardiovascular fitness, burn fat and tone and shape your legs, hips, and glutes. All levels 

Cardio Dance/Abs: This class will have 45 minutes of dance that includes Zumba, hip hop, and punching dance moves. The last part of the class will have abdominal work. All levels 

Cardio Hip Hop: This is a dance class that will have hip hop, Zumba, and funk. All genres of dance are used to make this workout super fun and effective. All levels 

Zumba®: ZUMBA® fuses hypnotic Latin Rhythms & easy-to-follow moves to create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away! It features Latin & International music, along with interval training, with slow & fast rhythms, making it an effective cardiovascular & toning workout. ZUMBA® helps you achieve long-term health benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in one exhilarating hour of calorie-burning, heart-racing, muscle-pumping, body-energizing, awe-inspiring movements meant to engage & captivate for life. All levels 

 

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS FOR PILATES, YOGA AND STRETCH

Stretch & Tone-Range of Movement: Increase strength, flexibility, and balance using breathing. It also emphasizes postural alignment and stress reduction, and range of motion for flexibility of joints and supple, relaxed muscles. All done in a smarter –not-harder, no-pain approach. All levels 

Pilates Matwork with Small Apparatus: A basic mat class that will improve muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, and overall joint mobility. The series of progression exercises will reduce stress, improve balance and core strength, and increase energy and stamina. The class will use the Pilates ring and sponge balls. All levels 

Sunrise Yoga: A yoga flow based class dedicated to exploring the link between the physical and energetic body. It will have a series of yoga poses to build strength and flexibility. All levels 

Fitness Yoga: Fitness yoga is a series of physical postures that limber up, strengthen, & relax the whole body. This is a flow-style class with an emphasis on strength building, through the holding of Hatha postures & breathing. The class ends with a relaxation exercise. All levels 

Barre/Yoga: All body parts are worked on the ballet barre, incorporating small hand weights as desired, along with the benderballs. It will lead into yoga postures with core strength. All levels 

Barre/Pilates: All body parts are worked on the ballet barre during the first part of the class. The second part of the class incorporates core strength with Pilates progressions and floorwork using the benderball. All levels

DESCRIPTION OF AEROBIC CLASSES

Baby Boomers & Beyond: This class has a warm up & 45 minutes of toning exercises using, hand-held weights, bands, bars, & tubing. There is standing bar work & abdominal work at end of class, along with stretching. All levels 

20/20/20: This class has 20 minutes of cardio, using simple choreography with high intensity drills, then 20 minutes of weights and 20 minutes of core/abs. Levels 2 & 3 

Step & Sculpt: This class has 40 minutes of bench –stepping, structured for all levels of fitness from beginner to advanced. It leads into strength training, using weights for the lower & upper body, & ending abdominal exercises. Levels 2 & 3 

Body Blast: This class is an intense, total-body conditioning workout using steps, weights, body bars, tubing, & bands. No choreography! It will challenge each muscle group, thus increasing muscular strength & definition. All levels 

Bootcamp Core: A high-energy class using weights and exercise balls. Some days will have circuit training. The format will change to doing burpees, squats, ladder drills, & using the bosu, etc. Challenge your muscular endurance, strength, body balance & coordination by using multi-joint moves & compound exercises. All levels 

Core to Core: This is a functional training class, focusing on abdominal & core strength. The class will incorporate resistance tubing, weights, & mat work to tone & strengthen abdominals. All levels 

Power Step: This is a high intensity single bench step class done to faster music and repeated moves. Abdominal work also. Levels 2 & 3 

Power Hour: A high intensity cardio and total body strength training class, taught in interval circuits each week; incorporating the Bosu, balls, steps, body bars, & dumbbells. Levels 2 & 3 

Bootcamp Bodyblast: An excellent cardiovascular & fat burning workout. This class combines the elements of fitness, cardiovascular activity, & strength exercise. It will also include sport-specific drills, boxing, & uses the bosu balance trainer for athletic strength & power. Integrates muscular conditioning along with core stabilization. A total-body workout. Levels 2 & 3 

Cardio Bodyblast: Considered to be one of the most efficient types of workouts, interval combines cardiovascular training with strength training. Your strength training will incorporate the use of hand weights, exertubes, body bars, & bands. Levels 2 & 3 

Total Body Blast: A high energy class using weights, body bar, & tubing. Some days will have circuit training. Levels 2 & 3 

Sit and Be Fit: This class is a 45 minute class using the chair for exercises, standing balance work, & sitting in chair doing toning work for the overall body. We use a small ball, hand weights, & tubes for our strength training. The class also does standing balance exercises using the ballet bar. Class held in Studio B on Monday & Wednesday & the room by the kitchen on Fridays. Level 1 

Zumba®: ZUMBA® fuses hypnotic Latin Rhythms & easy-to-follow moves to create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away! Zumbablast: Same as above but lasts only 30 minutes & has toning work. All levels 

Cardio Dance Strength: This class will have 30 minutes of dance that has ZUMBA®, hip hop, & punching box dance moves. The strength part of the class will incorporate weights & body bars. The last part of the class will have abdominal work & a cool down stretch. All levels

 

 

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS FOR PILATES, YOGA AND STRETCH

Vinyasa Yoga: This yoga class links breath and movement, utilizing Sun Salutations to build strength & flexibility. This includes combination poses that will strengthen your ability to transition from one pose to another. Test the depths of your patience, grace, strength, balance, & flexibility in this dynamic practice. All levels 

Fitness Yoga: Fitness yoga is a series of physical postures that limber up, strengthen, & relax the whole body. This is a flow-style class with an emphasis on strength building, through the holding of Hatha postures & breathing. The class ends with a relaxation exercise. Levels 1 & 2 

Barre Pilates: This class combines the core conditioning of Pilates with the flexibility of yoga, while increasing stability by using isometric exercises. Equipment options include light dumbbells, flat resistance bands, Pilates rings, bender balls, and gliders. All levels 

Pilates Matwork: Basic mat class that will improve muscular strength, endurance, flexibility, & overall joint mobility. These exercises will reduce stress, improve balance & core strength, & increase energy & stamina. All levels 

Pilates Small Apparatus: This class uses the Pilates progressions, along with small apparatus, which include the use of the soft mini exer-ball, dyna-bands, gliders, & bender balls rotating with the exercise balls. The dynamic nature of the ball provides additional challenge & prompts stabilization. All levels 

Yogalates: Pilates & Yoga meet. This class has fundamental exercises for abs & back, using the Pilates method, along with some yoga postures. The class uses the big exercise ball & sometimes incorporates light hand-held weights. All levels 

Stretch/Flexibility/Core: Range of motion for flexibility of joints & stretch exercises. Core exercises will be incorporated with the sponge or bender balls. All done in a smarter-not-harder, no-pain approach. All levels 

Yoga/Stretch: This class has some yoga poses, along with stretch & relaxation exercises. All levels 

Tai Chi: An ancient form of meditative exercise, originating in China, used to improve and maintain good health. Benefits according to recent reviews are that Tai Chi can lower blood pressure, increase flexibility, strength, and balance, & decrease stress, anxiety & depression. All levels 

Parkinson’s Exercise Class: This class is geared toward people that have a neurodegenerative condition with clinical features that include resting tremor, rigidity, & loss of postural reflexes. The class uses the chair for exercises geared to improve posture & the mobility of the spine, with coordinated movements. Standing balance work is done, along with using the bands for strength training & stretching at end of class. 

 

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS FOR SWIMMING POOL (Both Locations)

Aqua Power & Dynamics: A class with 35 minutes of cardiovascular exercise, incorporating “power” moves such as jumping jacks, tucks, and leaps. The latter part of class consists of toning exercises using noodles and aqua water dumbbells.

Aqua Dance: Aqua Dance is here! This class combines aqua aerobic movements and dance-based choreography. This is a low impact class that allows you to get a great workout while dancing to the beat of music. The last part of the class will have strength training using water dumbbells.

Wave Shake Up: This class is a fast-paced class of bicycling in the water, treading water, and suspended cardio exercises in the water.

Water Grooves: Class uses stationary and traveling moves (marching, jogging, kicks, jumps, etc.) along with various arm combinations. This class is designed to improve circulation and endurance. Strength training is done at the end of this class.

Wave Run: A cardiovascular conditioning class using traveling moves with various arm combinations. Class includes a cardiovascular circuit training exercises as well as resistance training using noodles and aqua dumbbells.

Aqua Body Pump/Noodles:  A strength training and toning class using aqua dumbbells, noodles, balls, and tubing during the cardiovascular portion of the class.
